Up Next

Well my next project will be decorating for my master bedroom. I realize I should have done this a long time ago and when we get our next house I will make sure to focus on it first thing. It would be nice to have a space that I can completely relax in and enjoy. Here are some inspiration photos I found on Pinterest.

Finally!

My "P" project is complete! Overall, it cost me:
$6 for one yard of fabric on etsy.com (plus shipping)
$12 for the P on etsy.com (plus shipping)
$4 for wood to go on frame from Lowes (I had them cut some plywood to match my dimensions.)
Overall I spent around $25, give or take, for a unique wall hanging that I can call my own!

New Landscaping

Before
Before

After

After

We bought 7 boxwood shrubs which were 40% off at King's Gardens in Lexington. Right now, nurseries are having major sales on trees and shrubs so now is the time to buy and spruce up your yard! (pun not intended although I did laugh at myself as I was typing--yes, I know I'm cheesy)

Although it's not a drastic change, the shrubs look really good from the road. It really gives the house some much needed curb appeal.

Bedspread

So I originally really wanted this bedspread from Anthropologie:

but soon realized I have 5 star restaurant taste on a Mcdonalds budget (which by the way I am perfectly content with :] )

So I found this beauty from West Elm. It looks similar to the one above and I think it would be perfect!

Cajun Chicken Pasta

So tonight I made a new recipe that I thought was worth sharing. I got it from pearls-handcuffs-happyhour.blogspot.com.

CAJUN CHICKEN PASTA
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
4 tsp. cajun seasoning
4 tbsp. butter
3 cups heavy whipping cream
1/2 tsp. lemon pepper seasoning
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 pkg. penne pasta
Roma tomatoes, chopped
Shredded parmesan cheese
Green onions
Cook pasta according to package directions.  Place chicken in a large Ziplock baggie.  Add cajun seasoning, seal baggie, and shake it up.   In a large skillet, saute chicken in 2 tablespoons of butter, turning when necessary. While chicken is cooking, use another pot and combine cream with 2 tablespoons of butter and remaining seasonings {salt, pepper, garlic powder, lemon pepper}.
When the cream mixture starts to bubble, turn off heat and pour over cooked pasta.  Toss to coat evenly.  When the chicken is all cooked, remove from heat and transfer to cutting board.  Slice chicken into strips.  Spoon pasta onto plate and top with several strips of chicken.  Top with tomatoes, green onions, and sprinkle with parmesan.

There are so many ways you can spruce up a ceiling! It's often the part of a room that gets neglected the most, but with a little paint, stenciling, wood, etc. you can make it a focal point!
